According to the National Retail Federation, almost 80% of American adults across the country plan to shell out an average of $179.70 each for their Easter plans.
Before many Americans celebrate, though, they will continue refraining from their favorite foods, activities and habits until Lent ends on Easter Sunday. Research from YouGov shows that just 16% of Americans observe Lent, with Catholics being the most likely to do so.

Come Sunday, those adults will finally break to enjoy some of those treats they willingly avoided for 40 days.
Keeping with tradition, many are bound to spend their Easter budgets on pastel-colored Easter treats, whether that’s a package of purple Peeps or white, hard-boiled eggs to dye.
Using Google search data, Zippia determined which treats each state favors most. The shades of pink illustrate the different kinds of egg-shaped treats (both savory and sweet) enjoyed by each state, while the blue-colored states prefer an assortment of bean-shaped sweets. If bean or egg-shaped candies didn’t take the cake, the state preferred either Peeps (shaded yellow) or chocolate bunnies (shaded green).

Nearly half of the states prefer eggy treats, and a fifth of the country (mostly in southern or midwestern states with the exception of Vermont) lean toward some form of jelly beans. However, just six states had chocolate bunnies at the top of their treats lists.
New England had the highest percentage of Peeps lovers in the survey, with three of the six states preferring the mini, marshmallow chicks. On the opposite side of the country, all members of the Four Corners are hoping for hard-boiled eggs in their Easter baskets.
Despite the pandemic, Easter egg hunts are still happening with precautions in place across the country, from Seattle to Boston.
Maybe, the Easter Bunny will hide some of the treats you’re looking for this year to accompany your Sunday brunch!
